My-First-School is an Australian charity, founded by Sydney photographer Andrea Francolini, who has a keen interest in Pakistan’s diverse society.
Away from the struggles reported by the media, Pakistani people are open, friendly and family-oriented but face serious challenges in everyday life just to make ends meet.
Andrea’s goal is to help families in North Pakistan to send their children to school for a basic education which then allows them to get more out of life.
Since 2009, My-First-School has achieved some really wonderful milestones — from supplying basic building materials, to electrical work and plumbing, and even building desks and chairs for classrooms, to actual construction of four new classrooms in three different communities. Each year My First School helps more schools in the area so that they can provide a better learning environment for the children.
My-First-School has also started a sponsorship program for young children, and so far eight students have been supported with a five year scholarship so that they can attend class in their local villages.
This year I had the fabulous opportunity to design the 2015 photobook for My-First-School, which showcases some of the great photos Andrea takes on his yearly travels to North Pakistan when he visits the schools. Those books help supporting the charity, all profits go straight to My-First-School.
I fell in love at first sight with those children and the photos. Working on the book was a lot of fun.
A big thank you goes to Andrea Francolini and to My-First-School.org
