Ever thought of your first job after Uni?
I still do and I still keep the results in some of my portfolios because I still like the classic and timeless design behind it.
My first job after Uni was 1990 with an advertising agency in the City of Bremen/Germany and one of our clients was Deutsche Aerospace Airbus, part of Airbus Industries. We created company profiles, product brochures for airplanes and info flyers for various Airbus plants in Germany and France.
The Corporate Identity for Deutsche Airbus was created by the famous designer Otl Aicher (1922 – 1991) and very often he had to approve the final artwork although he was not involved with the agency. Someone had to fly to Rotis in the South of Germany to show him what we created.
As he was very particular about the design and put a lot of attention to the tiniest of details it was a great extra training for me. I still can see immediately if a letter or dot is half a mm out of line.
And the best thing in hindsight – it was all done without computers. A really great training.
